Telehealth Video Visit – Instructions


Welcome to Colorado Urology’s new Telehealth Video Visit program!  We are pleased to offer this new and convenient service, which allows you the freedom to visit with your provider at a time and location of your choice. We know how valuable your time is and that your schedule varies.  We hope that this new appointment service will make it easier and more convenient for you to meet with your provider and to take good care of your health.

In order to get the most out of your upcoming Telehealth Video Visit, please follow these instructions and note the items that you will need to do before your Video Visit:

  1. Ensure that you have a Follow My Health patient portal account:
    • The Video Visits are conducted through our FollowMyHealth patient portal.
    • If you already have a FollowMyHealth patient portal account with our practice, then proceed to the next step.
    • If you do not yet have an account, please register using the email you received from FollowMyHealth after your recent visit, or contact our office at 888-401-7149 to request an invitation.
    • You may also register by visiting our website at and selecting “My Colorado Urology Patient Portal.”
  2. Pre-register for your Video Visit:
    Based on your choice, we will send you either a text or email link from Phreesia prior to your appointment. Please take a few minutes to register for your upcoming appointment. You can do this as soon as you receive your text/email, right up until your appointment time. Please be sure to complete this registration prior to “checking in” for your scheduled Video Visit.
  3. Find an appropriate location for your Video Visit:
    Find a comfortable location for your appointment. If you are not in a private place, we recommend using a headset with Bluetooth and finding an area that offers privacy for your visit.
  4. Log in early for your Video Visit:
    For ease of use, we recommend using your cell phone or tablet. You will have to download the Follow My Health mobile app before your visit, so you should give yourself extra time to complete that prior to your scheduled appointment time.
Android (Google) or IOS Devices (iPhone/iPad):

Android: Download the FollowMyHealth mobile app that you will find on the Google Play Store.
IOS: Download the FollowMyHealth mobile app that you will find on the App Store.

We will send you a notification from the FollowMyHealth app approximately 15 minutes before your appointment. Once you have signed into your account, you will be prompted to begin your video visit.

You will begin by entering a callback number and your preferred pharmacy. Following confirmation, you will be placed in a virtual waiting room for a short period of time while your provider connects to the visit.

PC or MAC Computers:

*Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox:  Log into your Follow My Health account at

  • After logging in you will see your scheduled visit in the upper right-hand corner of your dashboard (home screen).
  • Click on “Join Visit” to begin.
  • Alternatively, you can click on “Check In” on the video visit notification in your Action Center.
  • You will begin by entering a callback number and your preferred pharmacy.
  • Once confirmed, you will be placed in a virtual waiting room for a short period while your provider connects to the visit.

*Patients using Safari (MAC) or Internet Explorer (PC) will need to install a plugin to launch the video visit from their Follow My Health dashboard. This is a safe plugin, but if you do not feel comfortable installing, or are not the administrator of your device, please use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

After Your Video Visit

You will receive a summary of your visit through your FollowMyHealth portal account for your review. Your provider has the ability to electronically prescribe any medication(s) and to send orders to labs or radiology facilities. You can even request to schedule your follow-up appointments directly through your FollowMyHealth account!

Q: What is a Video Visit?

A: A Video Visit is like an in-person visit, except it is done through a smartphone or webcam. Once logged in to your FollowMyHealth account, you can launch your appointment. You can do this from the main menu on your mobile device or on the home page if you are using your desktop. Once selected, confirm the details of your visit, and go to the virtual waiting room. Your clinician will start the visit when it is your turn.

Q: When can I request a Video Visit?

A: You can do this through FollowMyHealth by requesting an appointment and choosing “Virtual Visit.” You may also request this over the phone or while scheduling a follow-up appointment in one of our offices. 

Q: How is care delivered?

A: Video Visits occur via smartphone or webcam through your FollowMyHealth patient portal account. Your provider will develop a treatment plan. When appropriate, your provider will order a prescription. It is the same quality of care as if you were in the office.

Q: How much will the service cost?

A: Video visits are processed through your insurance carrier as a regular office visit with your provider. You can expect the same copay and/or coinsurance to apply.

Q: If I have any issues connecting during the Video Visit, how do I get help?

A: Our support team has you covered! You can reach them by calling 855-405-7100. If you become disconnected from your provider during your visit, and are unable to reconnect, your provider will call you at the number you provided at the start of the video visit.

Q: Is my personal health information secure and protected during a Video Visit?

A: Yes. Video Visits use secure video conferencing technology developed for medical care. The software’s security and confidentiality protocols meet the requirements of HIPAA. Your Video Visit is not recorded. After the visit, you will receive a secure message with a summary of your care instructions.

Q: What do I need for Video Visits other than a camera and microphone?

A: For the best experience, use your FollowMyHealth mobile app (either iOS or Android). On a desktop, we recommend using Chrome or Firefox as your browser. You can use Internet Explorer or Safari, but you will be asked to download a plugin. You will also have a better experience with high-speed internet. Once you select “Check In for your Video Visit,” prompts will guide you through the setup process.

Q: Can I get a prescription from a Video Visit?

A: When appropriate, yes. Your provider will determine the best course of action just like an in-person visit. Prescriptions can be sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choosing.

Q: What happens if I need to have blood drawn or some other test?

A: Just like in an in-person visit, a lab or imaging will be ordered by your provider, and the order sent to the lab or radiology facility of your choice.
